okay, so most of you (probably?) know when kyu and i moved where we live now (last October) we'd hoped for a 2 bedroom but there weren't any available. we took a one bedroom and an empty promise we had first dibs on any openings for an upgrade at the one year point. it hasn't been a year yet, but we have a new manager, and a lot of people have moved out. last weekend we went to see the new manager to see what it'd take to upgrade. he told us that there's plenty of empty 2 bedrooms now, what people really want are the one-bedrooms. he offered to let us upgrade and waive all the fees and such that should go with it since we've been awesome residents while we've been here. he just didn't know which units specifically were available. xD to be fair, he was dealing with gas leaks and the whole complex losing their hot water..

today we went and talked to him again. he gave us the key to a recently-vacated apartment and asked us to look through and see if we liked it. we do! he said he'd have all the between-tenant maintenance stuff done this week and we can aim for moving in by Sept 1st. that gives us 2 weeks to pack all our stuff (and probably get rid of some of it) and clean the current place top-to-bottom, and get everything moved in, unpacked and finished. xD we started the cleaning here last night (because kyu's fried Nate is visiting this weekend) so keeping it going shouldn't be too hard. Tusday i'm gonna try to bring boxes home from work so we can get to packing. i'm taking charge this time, so it should go MUCH smoother. everything will be neatly packed and every box WILL be labelled with what's inside it and what room it goes into. this time no pushy (but well-meaning) neighbors are going to tell me what would work better, no one will overrule my directions by deciding the priority is swiftness over organization. last time we ended up with everything shoved in the living room with no room to maneuver, then our volunteers went home since everything was moved. >_> it's MY home, so my word will be law. i want to move all the boxes first, putting them in the closets of the room they belong in. then people will be asked to help with the big stuff. the upstairs rooms first so we don't have to lug things past already-placed furniture.

i'm actually excited about this now that it's real. xD we've been officially noted as the new residents of apt 255. next weekend we'll fill out the paperwork and possibly start moving the first packed boxes. Sept 1st is our goal date, but i'd like to have it DONE by Aug 29th so i have the 30th to relax and settle all-the-way in.

Excellent! I have a couple of nice empty boxes that I'll bring you next Tuesday, and I'll start collecting them at work.
